We love a good Mexican meal, and with the colorful and tropical vibes in the Tito’s Burritos & Wings restaurant, it’s easy to get drawn in. A super friendly and accommodating staff awaits you, and we’re sure you’ll discover many new delicious favorites on their menu. Let’s get to know more about them!

What is your background? How did Tito’s Burritos & Wings start?
The idea for Tito’s came about circa 2004 when two friends who worked in the music industry noticed there was a need for California/Mexican style eateries in New Jersey that feature tasty, fresh food with the laid back vibes of those that existed on the West Coast. We opened our first location in Summit, NJ in 2005.
How did you come up with the wings and burritos combo?
When we first opened, we actually opened as just Tito’s Burritos, though fresh fried wings have always been our thing. As we grew and developed more recipes with bigger and bolder flavors, we added more wing sauces and realized they should be featured in our name just as much as burritos, if not more – though Tito’s Wings & Burritos doesn’t have the same ring to it.

What is the most popular item on the menu?
The Bird is the Word Burrito
The “sponsor a meal” idea is great – what inspired you?
When the pandemic appeared in New Jersey and cases quickly began to rise, we realized we needed to do something to help those working on the front lines to keep us safe, while also being able to keep our doors open so that our employees could continue to support themselves and their families…and that’s how the idea was born. The community really supported us through the Sponsor-a-Meal program (and in general), which made it all possible, so for that we are very grateful.
How have you pivoted during the pandemic?
Once dining rooms closed, it became all about online ordering and delivery for us. We made adjustments to our online order site and point of sale system to improve the flow, and added a Curbside pick up option. Our main priority has always been how to operate safely, for both our employees and our guests, so we purchased handheld order devices to avoid having people gather in the dining rooms while waiting for their food. We also installed glass protective barriers at our order counters.
What is in the five year plan for Tito’s?
We are looking to open new locations throughout the state and potentially even some outside of New Jersey. We are also working on our own line of hot sauces, so stay tuned for those!

We notice you like to work with local merchants, can you give us some examples?
We’ve worked with Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry to assist local community members who are facing food insecurities. We have also hosted various fundraising nights with local schools and sports teams, most recently doing one for the Boonton High School Class of 2022. We were purchasing micro-cilantro greens from Grow it Green in Morristown before the pandemic hit and even did a team building volunteer day there, which was great.
Any new items coming?
We are always working on new ideas and just launched a Build Your Own Burrito or Bowl option, which we are really excited about. We also have a S’mores Special LTO in development, as well as another jumbo item similar to the Fat Amy (think lots of cheesy goodness!).
