Originally a private home for Dr. John Taylor and his wife, this multi-story building on Main Street now houses the Historical Society and Museum and the American Legion. Over the years, the building has housed Town Hall offices, the Boy Scouts, Civil Defense, and the Parking Authority. A significant grant and many donations allowed the building to undergo much needed renovations.
The Historical Society & Museum maintains many wonderful exhibits that are open to the public and a gift shop. It’s a great place to visit to learn more about the town’s history, its important landmarks, and their museum collections.
Make sure to visit the basement floor for their beautiful Fire Department exhibit, complete with preserved uniforms from the 1800s.
